Claiming that the decision would cost Turkey at least $100 million annually, Yavuzyılmaz called on the Ministry of Trade to file an appeal by September 26th.
The WTO has found that Turkey's additional tariffs and import conditions on electric and some hybrid vehicles of Chinese origin violate international trade rules. According to Yavuzyılmaz of the New Party, this decision, coming amidst discussions about investment incentives provided to BYD (Broadening Investment Fund), means Turkey may either have to compensate China for the damages it has suffered or face equivalent trade sanctions.
