Zelenskyy says he expects US proposals on new formats for peace talks
Zelensky said Ukraine has retaken 590 square km of occupied territory this year as he urged faster diplomacy and awaited U.S. proposals.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said diplomatic efforts to end Russia's war should be reinvigorated, adding he expects new American proposals regarding formats and schedules for peace meetings.
Zelensky informed French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz of frontline developments during a virtual meeting with the three leaders.
Ukraine has restored control over 590 square km of occupied territory since the beginning of the year, Zelensky noted, as the battlefield trend is "not in the interests of the occupier."
"We continue to increase the rate at which we are destroying Russian personnel," Zelensky stated, arguing military pressure combined with sanctions is forcing Russia toward choosing diplomacy.
European leaders confirmed they would "double down on their support in the coming months" amid Russian President Vladimir Putin's continued attacks, agreeing that standing up to Russian aggression remains vital.
The diplomatic efforts to put an end to Russia's war in Ukraine should be reinvigorated, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Friday, stating that he expects new proposals from the US on how these diplomatic efforts are to be carried out.
