Warner Bros. Reanimating 60s Cult TV Show ‘Dark Shadows’
Lisa Holdsworth will executive produce as the reboot continues the Collins family saga and brings the cult gothic soap back as adult animation.
Warner Bros. Animation announced an adult animated reboot of the cult Gothic Dark Shadows at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Created by Dan Curtis, the original Dark Shadows aired on ABC from 1966 to 1971, gaining a devoted following and celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Lisa Holdsworth, creator of Channel 4 series Dreamers, will executive produce and showrun this series continuing the Collins family saga across the original series' 1,200-plus episode legacy.
Warner Bros. noted the show is "currently in development" with no network or streaming home yet, though it emphasizes the importance of Barnabas Collins, the show's central character.
Originally played by Jonathan Frid, Barnabas Collins is reimagined in this reboot, with executive producers including Cathy Curtis, Tracy Curtis, Eric Homan, Kevin Kolde, and Fred Seibert.
