2027 Volkswagen ID.3 Neo: Updated EV Is a “True VW” with Actual Buttons and Switches
The updated hatchback adds a rebuilt cockpit, faster charging and a free VW Connect package for 10 years.
Volkswagen unveiled the ID.3 Neo, an extensively updated electric compact hatchback with a top range of up to 630 km, as order books opened in Europe on April 16, 2026.
CEO Thomas Schäfer states this launch is part of a strategic reset, with design lead Andreas Mindt establishing the "Pure Positive" design language to address earlier complaints about usability and design quirks.
The rebuilt interior replaces touch-sensitive pads with physical buttons and a rotary volume knob, while the 12.9-inch "Innovision" touchscreen and dedicated climate control panel address usability concerns.
Buyers can select from 50, 58, and 79 kWh batteries across new Trend, Life, and Style trim levels, with all models gaining vehicle-to-load capability for powering external devices.
Volkswagen expects customer deliveries to begin in July, while pricing remains unannounced; the company may later launch a sporty GTI version of the Neo and is developing a future electric Golf.
