‘VisionQuest’ Rotten Tomatoes Reviews Are Mostly In Tune With New Marvel Series
The Marvel miniseries opens with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and later settles at 87% as critics praise its identity themes.
- On Wednesday, Oct. 14, Disney+ premieres "VisionQuest," an eight-episode series completing the "WandaVision" trilogy, fronted by Paul Bettany as the reconstructed synthezoid Vision.
- Showrunner Terry Matalas, known for "Star Trek: Picard" Season 3, crafts the narrative around Vision retreating into a mental "Mindspace" in Scotland, populated by AI avatars including J.A.R.V.I.S. and E.D.I.T.H.
- James Spader returns as the villainous Ultron, a menacing figure imprisoned within Vision's mind, delivering monologues like "It feels to me like your Greek tragedy has a deuteragonist" that critics say steal every scene.
- Thomas , an 18-year-old grifter, emerges as the reincarnation of Vision's son with Wanda, forcing the protagonist to confront fatherhood and abandon his isolated digital existence.
- Disney billed the series as the "final vision of the groundbreaking trilogy," and critics describe it as "humane and hopeful" despite heavy reliance on digital metaphors, providing a solid sendoff for the hero.
