Virginia Basketball to Host Kentucky in ACC-SEC Challenge
Kentucky will face Virginia in a high-profile matchup that adds another ranked-style opponent to the Cavaliers' nonconference slate.
Virginia will host the Kentucky Wildcats on December 2 for the 2026 ACC/SEC Challenge at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The teams last met at the 2002-03 Maui Invitational, where Virginia won 75-61; Kentucky leads the all-time series 6-3 but hasn't played in Charlottesville since 1966-67.
Virginia head coach Ryan Odom scheduled the matchup to bolster a nonconference slate that includes UCONN and Maryland, following the Cavaliers' 30-6 season.
Facing pressure after a 22-14 record and early tournament exit, Kentucky added six portal transfers, including forward Milan Momcilovic, to strengthen the roster.
Representing the fourth installment of the ACC/SEC Challenge, both programs seek a quality win to boost their resumes for the 2027 NCAA Tournament.
