Virgin Galactic Reopens Ticket Sales, Announces Price Hikes
The company said its first Delta SpaceShip is nearly complete, while the second is expected to enter service late this year or early 2027.
- On Monday, Virgin Galactic Holdings CEO Michael Colglazier announced the company reopened limited ticket sales for commercial spaceflights at $750,000 per seat, ending a nearly two-year hiatus.
- Virgin Galactic previously suspended operations to focus on constructing its next-generation Delta class SpaceShips, pivoting from its older VSS Unity prototype to refine manufacturing and address mechanical hurdles.
- Colglazier revealed 50 new spots are available for 90-minute suborbital voyages beginning in late 2026 or early 2027, with the price representing an increase of about $100,000 from previous rates.
- Following the announcement, shares of the space tourism firm rose as much as 20 per cent on Tuesday, despite the company reporting $1.5 million in revenue for 2025 as it continues investing in its fleet.
- With competitor Blue Origin LLC pausing flights and SpaceX prioritizing government contracts, Virgin Galactic remains the only currently available option for space tourism, planning eventually to operate 10 flights per month.
