Finnish charter bus crashes in Sweden, six hospitalised
A Finnish charter bus operated by Saaga Travel crashed off a snowy road in northern Sweden, sending at least six people to hospital. The accident occurred on the E45 route between Vilhelmina and Storuman, with 45 people on board.
Ten people have been taken to hospital after a major bus accident near Storuman. The total number of injuries is unclear. "At least one person was trapped," says Anna Gunnefur, team leader at SOS Alarm.
A crowded bus has driven off the road and ended up in a ditch on National Road 45 between Vilhelmina and Storuman. A large rescue team has been called to the scene and the road is completely closed to traffic. All people on board are now out of the bus. Six people have been taken to hospital, the police say. – There is a major operation underway here, says a person at the scene of the accident.
The weather conditions were challenging, the business director of tour operator Saaga Travels tells Yle. According to the passenger list, there were 56 passengers on the bus, reported Aftonbladet.
