The Minnesota Vikings promoted outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and quarterback Max Brosmer from their practice squad to their 53-player active roster. The team also placed tight end Josh Oliver on injured reserve.
Minnesota terminated punter Johnny Hekker's contract after he filled in for injured rookie Brett Thorson. The team subsequently signed linebacker Kenny Dyson to the practice squad after NFL injury settlement rules previously blocked the move.
During a 23-16 win over the Buccaneers, Van Noy recorded five tackles, 1.5 sacks, and three tackles for a loss. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores said Van Noy is "getting more comfortable day by day" with the new system.
Teammates praised Van Noy's leadership on the field. Dallas Turner noted he shares "any type of tips that he has" with younger players, while Blake Cashman said Van Noy is "really good at leading" the defensive rush.
The Vikings face the Miami Dolphins at US Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 4 with their perfect record on the line. The winless Dolphins visit at 3:05 pm ET for the weekend matchup.
