VCU Parts Ways with Women's Basketball Coach Beth O'Boyle
VCU women's basketball stands 8-15 overall as assistant Kirk Crawford takes over coaching duties; a national search for a new coach begins immediately.
The university announced VCU women's basketball head coach Beth O'Boyle was fired Monday and will not coach the rest of the season.
The Rams are 8-15 overall and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10 this season after winning the 2019 A-10 regular-season title and the 2021 conference tournament and NCAA bid.
'This is undoubtedly one of the most difficult moments of my career', O'Boyle said, having compiled a 191-168 record as VCU women's basketball head coach since 2014.
Athletic director Ed McLaughlin said VCU will begin a national search immediately, and Kirk Crawford will serve as interim coach for the rest of the season.
O'Boyle led VCU to the 2019 A-10 regular-season title and the 2021 conference tournament crown and NCAA bid.
