The fire, which is still not under control, was declared Monday midday on the sides of the Petit Bessillon, near the village of Pontevès, where the inhabitants were called to confide. More than 300 firefighters are mobilized.
The fire declared itself "on a very hilly, very rugged terrain" which complicates the work of the firefighters.


A fire broke out in Pontevès, in the Var department, on Monday, August 18. By 5 p.m., nearly 70 hectares had already been ravaged by the flames, and 200 firefighters were mobilized. At this stage, no evacuation plan has been implemented.
