Vape shop employee pins alleged robber down until officers arrive: NCPD
Police said the suspect threatened to shoot the clerk, who pinned him to the floor before officers arrived and charged him with armed robbery.
On Tuesday, a North Charleston vape shop employee pinned a robbery suspect to the ground during an attempted armed robbery on Rivers Avenue.
Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Justin Allen Adkins, who entered the Smoke Shop and demanded money while claiming to possess a.22-caliber handgun.
After the employee refused to comply, Adkins allegedly threw items around the store, causing extensive damage before the employee detained him until Officers arrived.
Authorities transported Adkins to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the struggle before booking him into the Cannon Detention Center.
Adkins faces charges of robbery while armed with a deadly weapon and malicious injury to property under $2,000, as the North Charleston Police Department continues its investigation.
