Vancouver Rise FC celebrates first home victory of the season
Latifah Abdu and Quinn scored as Vancouver held 59% possession and took two shots on goal, both conversions, officials said.
On Saturday, The Vancouver Rise secured their first home victory by defeating AFC Toronto 2-1 at Swangard Stadium, with Latifah Abdu opening the scoring and Quinn converting a 33rd-minute penalty.
Vancouver held 59 percent possession and converted both shots on goal, marking their second consecutive win after an initial three-game losing streak in the Northern Super League.
AFC Toronto head coach Marko Milanović said his side was "extremely flat" in the first 30 minutes, while Rise head coach Anja Heiner-Müller praised her team's control and discipline throughout the match.
Players credited their success to executing the game plan, with Abdu noting, "we do what she tells us to do, and we got the three points today."
The Rise will travel to Montreal on May 30 to face Roses FC, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. PT as they look to extend their winning streak.
