Vancouver Island student helps provide reduced-fee dental services
Brendil Sabatino will provide exams, X-rays and other treatment at 50% off, with initial visits free, for patients without dental coverage.
Starting July 6, dental student Brendil Sabatino will provide reduced-fee services at Qualicum Dental for three weeks as part of his fourth-year studies at the University of British Columbia.
Growing up in Whiskey Creek, Sabatino credits the Oceanside community for supporting his family during his youth, motivating his desire to give back through this clinical placement.
Under the mentorship of Doctor Jag Shoker, Sabatino offers all treatments at 50 per cent off the regular fee schedule, with initial examinations and X-rays provided free of charge.
Residents unable to afford regular dental care can contact Qualicum Dental to book appointments between July 6 and July 31, addressing gaps in delayed routine care.
Following graduation, Sabatino plans to return to the region and work at an existing office, with long-term hopes of opening a sustainable, reduced-cost clinic of his own.
