UTTARKASHI, UTTARAKHAND, INDIA, AUG 10 – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off relief vehicles as over 1,000 people were rescued following a mudslide and flash floods in Uttarkashi, officials said.
- On August 10, the head of Uttarakhand's state government dispatched vehicles loaded with relief and rehabilitation supplies to support those affected by disasters in Uttarkashi.
- This followed a devastating cloudburst and flash floods on August 5, which caused mudslides in Dharali and Harsil, destroying connectivity and leaving many stranded and missing.
- Rescue efforts have successfully evacuated over 1,000 individuals, including pilgrims, with coordinated assistance from various national and state emergency response teams employing helicopters, drones, and advanced imaging technology.
- Dhami emphasized that ensuring the safe evacuation of all individuals and providing necessary assistance remains the foremost concern, highlighting that finishing the Limchagad bridge marks an important advancement in the relief efforts.
- A three-member committee will assess rehabilitation and losses, while compensation distribution and six months of ration support will proceed to aid affected families as evacuation nears completion.

Regarding the disaster in Dharali of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Congress state president Karan Mahara accused the government of lethargy and negligence.
