US trains West African militaries as jihadi threat spreads

As extremist violence in West Africa’s Sahel region spreads south toward coastal states, the United States military has launched its annual military training exercise which will help armies contain the jihadi threat

Some 50 African and American troops start joint military exercises in Jacqueville, Ivory Coast, to raise awareness of terrorist threats in the region. Nearly 1,300 troops from 30 countries will participate in the Flintlock training, which is being conducted jointly with Ghana.
