Oracle Outage Knocks TikTok Offline for some US Users
The second outage since January affected over 1,400 users, caused by connection timeouts at Oracle's Ashburn, Virginia data center, with no root cause identified yet.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, TikTok U.S. experienced a service disruption tied to an issue at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Ashburn, Virginia data center.
The outage is the second since the January transfer of U.S. operations to the TikTok USDS joint venture, with the earlier disruption caused by a winter storm cutting power at an Oracle data center.
User reports indicate issues rose to almost 700 by noon and over 1,400 by 5:40 p.m., with outages in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles and San Diego.
Implementing mitigation steps, Oracle said, and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure System Status page reports that they are working to restore normal service while the root cause remains unidentified.
Because Oracle provides cloud services and holds a stake, Oracle-related issues have caused two major TikTok outages, while some users alleged censorship and TikTok denied it.
