DOJ, Education Department Investigating KCK Public Schools for Title IX, FERPA Violations

- Frank Miller, Director of the Student Privacy Policy Office, said the district's "sustained efforts to sidestep FERPA" represent a "breach of federal law," while Secretary of Education Linda McMahon pledged to resolve cases "efficiently."
- Federal officials stated they will "take appropriate enforcement measures," including judicial proceedings and potential loss of federal funding for the district, which serves more than 21,000 students.
