US tariffs threaten millions of jobs in India’s textile sector as manufacturers look for new clients

The prospect of a 50 per cent tariff on Indian exports to the US – with only Brazil subject to a higher levy – are expected to badly hurt the sectors that employ the most people in the South Asian country, such as textiles, gems and jewellery, and engineering goods. Entrepreneurs and workers in the Indian textile sector told ST they expect a substantial loss of revenue and jobs by the end of the year.  Read more at straitstimes.com.
