Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin stated that the diplomatic crisis between Argentina and Brazil was "bad news" for Mercosur, and expressed hope that the two countries would return to dialogue. Lubetkin emphasized that the tension affected not only Argentina and Brazil, but also Uruguay and Paraguay, and stated that they were ready to mediate if requested by either side.
