UPDATE (7/9/26): A South Carolina man who pleaded guilty to setting fire to Byron United Methodist Church in 2024 has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia. Prosecutors say 35-year-old Luke Andrew Westefeld of North Augusta, South Carolina, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell.
