By 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, storm sewers were backing up all over town and flooding streets throughout Espanola. The most serious flooding within town limits was up on Bass Lake Road where the culvert was completely washed out. The road was deemed impassable last night with no detour and Espanola public works employees were called in for emergency repairs. Multiple roads in northeastern Ontario washed out by a storm Wednesday night

Ontario Provincial Police are reporting multiple road closures in the northeast due to heavy rainfall Wednesday night into Thursday.

UPDATE: Six roads in the Espanola area washed out and closed

No detours available and the affected areas will stay closed until repairs are completed and the roads are confirmed to be safe for travel.
