Forces Target Taliban Posts After Unprovoked Firing
The deputy commissioner said Taliban personnel abandoned several posts after Pakistan’s response to unprovoked firing, as border tensions remained high.
On Sunday, Pakistani security forces struck multiple Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions, and defense posts in South Waziristan, responding to what officials described as unprovoked cross-border firing.
This escalation follows an October 27 incident where Afghan Taliban shelling killed one civilian and injured five others, damaging civilian houses and the Angoor Adda Bazaar in South Waziristan.
Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Lower confirmed that Afghan Taliban personnel abandoned their posts and fled following the operation; no casualties were reported on the Pakistani side.
Islamabad denounced the Afghan Taliban's 'latest fabrication of lies' regarding the Angoor Adda clashes, while repeatedly urging Kabul to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory for attacks.
Pakistan has previously conducted precision strikes against terrorist hideouts near the border, demanding that Kabul dismantle infrastructure for groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, though Kabul denies harboring militants.
