- On Tuesday , the Delhi High Court suspended Kuldeep Singh Sengar's jail term and granted bail, the decision reported by the court.
- Facing appeals, Kuldeep Singh Sengar challenged his December 2019 trial court conviction for the 2017 Unnao rape case and has a pending custodial-death case appeal after transfer of cases to Delhi on August 1, 2019.
- Requiring financial and supervisory conditions, the court ordered Sengar not to come within a 5 km radius of the victim's house, threaten her or her mother, and report every Monday at 10 am, with violation leading to bail cancellation.
- The trial court had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to protect the complainant, and the woman and her family were placed under Central Reserve Police Force protection after threats, including two relatives killed and the woman and her lawyer injured in a car crash.
- With the appeal pending before the Delhi High Court, the suspension is temporary; the bail will remain until the High Court delivers its verdict on Kuldeep Singh Sengar's appeal.
