Graffiti and stickers targeting Germans have appeared on shops and cars in Mallorca's Santanyí area, representing an escalation in simmering anti-tourism sentiment in Spain that blurs the line between protest and and outright anti-foreigner feeling.
Unknown people sprayed xenophobic slogans in Santanyi. German holidaymakers and second house owners are particularly affected.
In Spain and in Mallorca in particular, there is growing displeasure about mass tourism. The residents know that this also brings money, but the housing shortage threatens many. Now the rage hit Germans.
