University Fires Back at Heated Rivalry Star for Scathing B.C. Capital Review
UVic answered Hudson Williams’ jab with a social post showcasing shorelines, forests and drag queen bingo while launching two Heated Rivalry-themed courses.
The University of Victoria fired back at Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams with a playful social media video highlighting local attractions to counter his characterization of the region as a quiet retirement hub.
While promoting his new show, Williams told Etalk that Victoria's 'hot spots' are limited to 'retirement homes and fricking bingo,' having previously described the city as 'dead' during a Paris fashion show in March.
UVic's video features clips of local shorelines, forests, and community events playing behind Williams' audio, concluding with a punchline featuring drag queen bingo to counter his assessment of the city's entertainment.
This playful clapback reflects UVic's broader embrace of the hit series that catapulted Williams to fame, as the university launched two Heated Rivalry-themed courses this fall to analyze the show's themes and modern issues.
Greater Victoria continues to attract production teams, including the supernatural thriller Yaga premiering on Crave Oct. 23; meanwhile, Jason Priestley's series Private Eyes West Coast showcases landmarks like the Fairmont Empress Hotel and Orca Spirit Adventures.
