University of Nebraska-Lincoln chancellor says nearly $30 million needs to be cut from budget

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA, AUG 4 – University of Nebraska-Lincoln must cut $27.5 million through program reviews, staff buyouts, and hiring freeze due to declining state funding and rising costs, after $75 million cut since 2020.

Summary by KETV
"Despite our best efforts to live within our means, our revenue has not kept pace with expenses. This is due to a combination of downward trends in state appropriations, net tuition and campus allocations combined with historically high inflation of health care costs."
