The cabinet must withdraw all proposed cuts to the state pension and benefits for the unemployed and disabled within two weeks. If not, the trade unions FNV, CNV, and VCP will organize strikes and work stoppages throughout the Netherlands.
It threatens to be a hot summer. Not because of the sun, but because of a wave of strikes that could bring our country to a standstill if the cabinet does not take the social security cuts off the table. How serious are these threats, and what will we notice?
If the cabinet does not scrap the proposed cuts to unemployment benefits (WW), disability benefits (WIA), and state pensions (AOW) within two weeks, three trade unions intend to take nationwide action. FNV, CNV, and VCP issued this ultimatum on Monday.
