Copenhagen’s city government has submitted a series of recommendations to the government aimed at improving the rights of sex workers, including permitting them to join unemployment insurance funds known as ‘A-kasser’.
The City of Copenhagen has sent a number of recommendations to ministers to improve the rights of sex workers so that they can receive unemployment benefits and lost earnings.
The Municipality of Copenhagen will investigate whether sex workers should be able to be registered as employees. According to the municipality, sex workers should have the opportunity to be members of an unemployment fund, which they cannot currently do because they are not allowed to be employees. This was stated by the municipality's acting mayor for employment and integration, Louise Theilade Thomsen (V), according to Ritzau.
