- Mozambican authorities trace the insurgency to 2017, which began in Cabo Delgado and has displaced over 1.3 million people as armed groups storm villages, burning homes and attacking northern communities.

- UNHCR is calling for urgent international support and says it will need close to 40 million dollars next year amid funding at 50 percent of requirements.
- This is the fourth massive influx in recent months, putting huge pressure on already fragile host communities in northern Mozambique and forcing some displaced people to return to unsafe areas.
