The Brazilian left-wing president said Saturday that "for a leader, walking the head high is more important than a Nobel prize", in an implicit criticism of Donald Trump.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Luiz) condemned the United Nations (UN) and other multilateral institutions today, saying they have "stopped functioning" and failed to protect the victims of the war in the Gaza Strip.
Brazil's head of state said the UN Security Council "does not work" by pointing out permanent members as instigators of wars.
On the eve of the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva criticized "the multilateral institutions that were created to try to prevent these things from happening", which, according to him, "have ceased to function".
"For a leader, walking the head up is more important than a Nobel prize," said the Brazilian president, in a talk to Donald Trump.
