UMNO To Raise Funds For Najib’s RM50 Million Fine Following House Arrest Decision
UMNO says the drive will be voluntary and transparent as it seeks contributions from members and supporters to cover Najib Razak’s RM50 million fine.
Following the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, UMNO has launched a fundraising drive to help him pay the RM50 million fine imposed as part of the clemency.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, recently granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest instead of incarceration.
UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged members and supporters to contribute voluntarily, pledging the initiative would be conducted transparently and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
With all humility, UMNO expressed deepest gratitude to the monarchy, stating that respect for the Constitution and the rule of law will remain the party's guiding principles.
Najib will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to conditions including the RM50 million fine that UMNO now seeks to raise.
