UK's Favourite Supermarket Gets Just Two Stars for Value for Money
Marks & Spencer scored 78% for in-store experience, leading on customer service and quality, while Aldi topped value ratings in the Which? UK supermarket survey.
Which? found M&S achieved a clear lead with a 78% in-store score and five-star ratings for service and food quality.
Shoppers said M&S's higher prices mean it is more a destination for occasional treats than a weekly shop, while many trade frills for lower prices amid cost-of-living pressure.
Tesco and Aldi shared the strong in‑store showing at 76%, with Tesco and Waitrose leading online at 81%, while Ocado and Sainsbury's scored 80% and 79%, and Aldi earned Recommended Provider status for value.
Because of its value score, M&S missed Which? Recommended Provider status, but a spokesman said its Remarkable Value range has doubled since 2023, stressing quality and service.
Under cost‑of‑living pressure, shoppers favour cheaper options, with Which? showing M&S prized for quality, Aldi for affordability, Tesco for balance, while Asda and Morrisons score lower value for loyalty members.
