EU foreign ministers reject a secret US-Russia plan favoring Moscow and stress that Ukrainians and Europeans must be part of any peace negotiations, EU officials said.
- On Thursday in Brussels, European Union foreign ministers said any plan to end the war must include Ukrainians and Europeans after the United States floated a framework requiring Kyiv to give up land and reduce its army.
- Media reports first flagged the 28-point plan delivered by Steve Witkoff, U.S. envoy, to Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, in Miami earlier this week, and said it was reportedly drafted with consultations involving Russian officials.
- Arriving in Brussels, Kaja Kallas told reporters, 'For any plan to work, it needs Ukrainians and Europeans on board,' and Radoslaw Sikorski said 'Europe's security will be increased or decreased as a result of the way this war will end.'
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine "will not be able to accept any agreements without us" and last week faced resignations amid a corruption probe, increasing pressure on his government.
