Ukrainian gymnast Onofriychuk stopped one step away from a medal at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro, losing 0.55 points to the bronze medalist. Daria Varfolomeev won gold, and Stilyana Nikolova won silver.
German rhythmic gymnast Darja Varfolomeeva defended her title of world all-around champion in Rio de Janeiro. The 18-year-old Olympic champion from Paris repeated her victory from Valencia the year before last. She won the combined scores for the exercises with ball, cones, ribbon and hoop, ahead of Stiliana Nikolov from Bulgaria and Italy's Sofia Raffaeli.
