UK travel company used by 750k travellers rescued after falling into administration
Funktion Events bought the brands, and more than 750,000 customers can book group trips again under new ownership.
- Groupia brands, including StagWeb and GoHen, are back online and taking bookings after being acquired by Cheshire-based Funktion Leisure. The travel group fell into administration on June 16, 2026.
- Since its founding in 2002, Groupia specialized in group travel, serving more than 750,000 travelers with trips to Prague, Split, and Barcelona. Several staff members were retained during the transition.
- Funktion Events, an ABTA-bonded specialist founded in 2007, has arranged more than 55,000 hen parties. Managing director Jay Broughton said, "Our focus now is stability: looking after customers, delivering the experience people expect from GoHen and StagWeb."
- The travel sector has faced volatility this year, with Wayfairer Travel Limited suspending services "until further notice." Ascend Airways, EcoJet Airlines, and Zenith Aviation Limited have entered administration or liquidation.
- Management plans site improvements and service enhancements over the coming months. The company stated, "Over the coming months we will be investing in the sites and the service, keeping what customers already value and improving the rest.
