UK summons senior Iranian diplomat over alleged proxy attacks in Europe
Britain says the IRGC Quds Force directed proxy attacks across Europe, and new powers could bring up to 14 years in prison for supporters.
Britain has summoned Iran’s most senior diplomat in London, Chargé d’Affaires Ali Nasimfar, over accusations that Tehran is actively directing proxy groups to execute hostile operations across Europe.
The UK Foreign Office linked Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force to a proxy network called the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right .
Intel reports accuse the group of carrying out a wave of targeted attacks across Europe between March and May, specifically aiming at sites associated with Jewish and pro-Israel communities, as well as UK-based, Persian-language dissident media outlets.
The diplomatic showdown follows Britain’s decision to formally designate the IRGC and its affiliated groups under expanded national security powers, a legislative framework aimed at disrupting foreign state-backed sabotage and surveillance.
While Tehran has historically denied using foreign proxies, the British government declared Iran's escalating intelligence activities "completely unacceptable" and vowed to use all necessary measures to protect the public.
The Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom has summoned Iran's business manager, Ali Nasimfar, for the alleged role of the Quds Revolutionary Guard Force in leading related groups to carry out a series of attacks across Europe between March and May.
