UGA Safety Facing Felony Charges After I-95 Arrest in Glynn County
The Georgia safety was stopped on I-95 after police said he was speeding and found marijuana packaging and THC vapes in his vehicle.
On May 8, Georgia safety Ja'Marley Riddle was arrested on I-95 in Glynn County while driving a Dodge Durango at approximately 95 miles per hour, facing two felony drug charges and a misdemeanor speeding count.
Glynn County police officers initiated the stop after observing the SUV weaving through traffic, noting Riddle displayed "extremely nervous, shaking" behavior and detecting marijuana odor emanating from the vehicle.
Upon receiving consent to search the vehicle, officers discovered a backpack containing a heat-sealed bag with "multicolor packaging, some with a leafy substance stating marijuana, and some containing vapes stating THC," according to the police report.
Riddle was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center for booking and subsequently posted bond for all three charges, while the University of Georgia acknowledged the ongoing legal matter in a statement.
The East Carolina transfer was expected to contribute to the Bulldogs' defense this season, though the program continues navigating recurring off-field issues involving its players.
