On the streets of New York City, the "store cats" commonly seen in small grocery stores (bodegas) are expected to be officially legalized. City Councilman Keith Powers recently said that he would introduce legislation to amend the city's health regulations to allow convenience stores in the five boroughs to keep cats, and strive for official status for these little guys who are loved by citizens but are in a legal gray area.
