Uffizi Gallery unveils new arrangement for Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' and 'Primavera'
The museum said the new layout will separate the paintings to reduce crowding and improve viewing as part of an ongoing renovation.
On Tuesday, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence repositioned Sandro Botticelli's masterpieces "The Birth of Venus" and "Primavera," aiming to reshape how visitors experience two of the Italian Renaissance's most celebrated works.
Previous displays placed the paintings on adjacent walls, which caused crowding and a difficult viewing experience for museum guests seeking to view Botticelli's works.
The renovation includes new displays for "Madonna of the Pomegranate" and "Spring." Uffizi Gallery director Simone Verde said the rooms seek to present the "Uffizi of the future" while keeping historical roots firmly planted.
Visitors can now view "The Birth of Venus" in one room and turn around to see "Primavera" in an adjoining space on the opposite wall.
The update marks a new phase in the ongoing renovation led by Verde, who took over in January 2024, aiming to improve visitor experience while maintaining the Uffizi's historical significance within Italy.
