Two men indicted in shooting of off-duty Border Patrol agent
NEW YORK CITY, AUG 6 – Two illegal immigrants face multiple state and federal charges after a planned robbery spree ended in a shooting involving an off-duty Customs and Border Protection officer, officials said.
- On Wednesday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced a state indictment against two alleged migrants accused of plotting an alleged 'robbery spree' before shooting an off-duty CBP agent in Fort Washington Park.
- Planned through WhatsApp, the suspects allegedly coordinated July 19 robberies, first riding a moped into Fort Washington Park shortly before midnight to rob a woman.
- At the shootout, both sides returned fire, and the officer was struck in the face and hand while Mora was hit in the thigh and groin, the wounded agent treated at Harlem Hospital.
- They are expected to be arraigned later this month, with Mora facing multiple charges and Mayor Adams saying, 'These individuals posed a serious threat and showed no concern for the safety of others in our city.'
- Both suspects will face federal prosecution alongside state charges, and are expected to be arraigned the week of August 18, with potential deportation.
