At around 3:05 pm on the 31st, the captain of a diving boat called 118 to report that "two people are missing while diving" north of Manza Beach in Onna Village. According to the Nago Coast Guard Station, the missing people were a male instructor and a male diving customer, and were found in the sea by another instructor at around 5:30 pm.
According to the Nago Coast Guard Station in Okinawa Prefecture, a scuba diving instructor and a male client went missing in the sea off the coast of Onna Village in the afternoon of the 31st. The two were rescued unconscious in the sea and later confirmed dead.
