On Monday, the CBI filed a 636-page chargesheet in Bhopal against Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh in the death of former actor-model Twisha Sharma, invoking the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Twisha married Samarth on December 9, 2025, but was found dead at their marital home on May 12; her family alleges physical violence and dowry-related harassment pushed her to take the extreme step.
The CBI concluded the death was a suicide, a finding supported by a second autopsy conducted May 24 by a four-member AIIMS Delhi team, and the agency interviewed approximately 150 to 200 witnesses during investigation.
Filing the chargesheet before the 90-day deadline prevents Samarth from becoming automatically eligible for statutory bail, while the court reviews the extensive documentation.
Twisha's cousin Ashish Sharma said the family seeks examination of phone records from the crucial two to three days, as the CBI requests court permission for deeper investigation into additional case aspects.
