Jharkhand Protest LIVE: Govt. Cancels JSSC-CGL Exam; Devendra Mahto Ends 16-Day Hunger Strike
The state also scrapped all TDPL exams since 2014 and ordered a Criminal Investigation Department probe into alleged recruitment irregularities.
- On Monday, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto ended his 16-day hunger strike at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi after the Jharkhand government cancelled the JSSC-CGL examination and all tests conducted by TSR Data Processing Private Limited .
- The decision followed a meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren on July 20, after which a Criminal Investigation Department inquiry began July 28 into irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted across Jharkhand since 2014.
- Mahto ended his fast in the presence of state ministers Dipika Pandey Singh and Irfan Ansari, calling the cancellation a "huge victory for Jharkhand" while demanding stringent laws to prevent paper leaks and irregularities.
- While suspending the protest, Mahto told reporters his struggle for reform continues, demanding that "every examination must be monitored, every examination must be audited" at each stage.
- Despite these government actions, a section of protesters stated they will continue their movement until their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the cancelled examinations is accepted.
