European Commission rules covering vehicle design, production, collection, and end-of-life treatment have entered into force, introducing mandatory recycled plastic content and a broader set of requirements intended to increase recovery and reuse from scrapped vehicles. A new regulation on vehicles at the end of the life cycle came into force on Thursday, generating additional requirements for the design, production, collection and recycling of cars....
The new regulation sets for the first time mandatory targets for incorporating this material into the sector and provides for the Commission to also set targets for steel and aluminium to be applied from 2033, with the aim of increasing the use of secondary raw materials and reducing European dependence on imported virgin resources.
