Turkey to stress need to update customs union with EU during commissioner's visit
ANKARA, Feb 5 - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will push for a speedy resumption of talks with the European Union to update their customs union during a visit to Turkey by the bloc's commissioner for enlargement, a Turkish Foreign Ministry source said on Thursday. The European Union is once again trying to reach out to Turkey, which it sees as a key player, in the resolution of the war in Ukraine. As part of the process, the EU's enlargement commissioner traveled to Ankara to set a new foundation for bilateral cooperation. For now, the parties are cautiously trying to rebuild trust with symbolic steps.
