Turkey butcher guilty of killing and cutting up girlfriend 15 years ago
Anna Podedworna used butchering skills to dismember and bury Izabela Zablocka, hiding the crime for 15 years until discovery followed a police tip-off from the defendant.
- On Monday a jury at Derby Crown Court unanimously convicted Anna Podedworna of murder, preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course of justice after a three-week trial.
- Her remains were recovered in June last year after Podedworna emailed Derbyshire Police identifying the burial site, following her disappearance in August 2010.
- Using skills from her poultry job, Anna Podedworna cut Izabela Zablocka in half above the waist and concealed the parts in bin bags, while jurors heard considerable force and electrical tape bound the legs before burial.
- The court heard the family have endured years of uncertainty as Izabela's daughter submitted a victim impact statement and Podedworna faces a life sentence with sentencing due tomorrow.
- Investigators said the probe relied on army support, search dogs and search teams, and that Podedworna hid the truth for years, delaying justice.
