Xbox and 4A Games showed the first trailer and gameplay for Metro 2039, which is set to launch this winter on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Creative Director Andriy Mls Shevchenko said, "The war has shaped us, and we have changed the story to be even more about choices, actions, consequences."
- Players control The Stranger, a fully voiced protagonist plagued by violent nightmares forced to return to the Metro. Co-Creative Director Pavel Ulmer said, "We're not romanticizing the post-apocalypse, or making a theme park out of it."
- Metro will launch this winter on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with the reveal trailer "proudly made in Ukraine" showcasing the proprietary 4A Engine and handcrafted visual style.

According to Jon Bloch, executive producer at 4A Games, Metro 2039 (revealed earlier this week via Xbox) will have a "much darker tone" than any of the earlier games in the series.
