The board said $17 billion in pledges must be disbursed quickly to avoid a cash crunch for Gaza reconstruction estimated at more than $70 billion.
On Tuesday, the Board of Peace warned the United Nations Security Council that the gap between pledged and disbursed funds for Gaza reconstruction must be closed "with urgency."
President Donald Trump established the Board of Peace to oversee the estimated $70 billion reconstruction of Gaza, though recent reports indicate a cash crunch is stalling the plan.
The Board reported that 85% of Gaza's infrastructure has been destroyed, requiring clearance of 70 million tons of rubble, while only a fraction of the $17 billion pledged has been received.
Many nations remain hesitant to fund the initiative due to transparency concerns, though the Board rejected claims of funding constraints, stating it is an "execution-focused organisation that calls capital as needed."
Nickolay Mladenov, the Board's envoy for Gaza, is expected to brief the Security Council on May 21 as the committee urges member states to "accelerate disbursement processes.
The Peace Council set up by Donald Trump for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip urgently called for the acceleration of the payments promised by the Member States, warning of a possible liquidity deficit in an estimated plan of over $70 billion, according to a report consulted by Reuters.
