Trump will rally Georgia Republicans despite party divisions in battleground state
Trump’s visit highlights Republican efforts to energize voters as Georgia remains a battleground and party leaders clash over election denial and endorsements.
On Friday, President Trump will appear in Dalton, Georgia, to rally support for Senate candidate Mike Collins and gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson, aiming to boost Republican enthusiasm in the battleground state.
Unlike recent trips to Alabama, Montana, and Tennessee, Georgia remains a critical battleground where voters previously sent Marjorie Taylor Greene to Congress before Republican Rep. Clay Fuller replaced her.
Gov. Brian Kemp delayed endorsing Collins until September, and Trump backed Jackson only after he defeated Lt. Gov. Burt Jones in a primary runoff, with Jackson promising to be Trump's "favorite governor."
Criticism from Ossoff and Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock followed the visit announcement, while Collins acknowledged Joe Biden served as president without confirming the election results, echoing Trump's claims regarding the 2020 election.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle described President Trump as the "unequivocal leader" and "unmatched motivator" for the Republican Party, as the effort aims to reshape the final years of Trump's second presidency.
